on zero Black coaches in Pac-12 hoops. Includes Pac-12 statement saying progress needed in “critical area” and Lorenzo Romar - one of last Black coaches to coach in Pac-12 - added comment on issue: “It’s hard, but not that hard.”
Andrew Wiggins on if he would come off the bench if asked:
“Whatever the coaches want to do. Whatever they think is best to win the game. Steph came off the bench for a couple of games... We got to do whatever we need to do to win.”
Stephen Curry on if he wants to make an All-Defensive team this season: "If you want to start that narrative for me, please, by all means. I will happily do my part to try to make you a prophet."
Steve Kerr congratulated Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets on a terrific season.
“I also want to mention how happy I am for DeMarcus Cousins. Obviously, I wanted to win, but that guy put his heart on the line for us several years ago, and he's been through hell.”
Kevin Durant on Stephen Curry: "He put in a ton of work. He cares about the game. He loves his teammates and plays with energy. So that's what you get every night with a player like that playing at an MVP, Hall of Fame level. You got to respect it."
Klay Thompson: “I've learned in life you can't go back, and I did miss those free throws. I was very disappointed in myself. But I quickly forgot about them and realized we have a chance to win this game in four seconds. It sucks, but we won, and that's all that really matters.”
Stephen Curry on LeBron James and Kevin Durant not being in this stage of the playoffs:
“You're still going to see those guys back, Bron, KD, all those guys you mentioned. It ain't like they're just going to ride off into the sunset either.”
Steve Kerr: “There's a reason our team has won championships...Steph, Klay, Draymond, and Loon have done this before. But Steph in particular, is one of the great players of all time. This is what greats do.”
Steve Kerr: “We don't really feel like we have a rival...We just look at Memphis as a rising young team that's really talented, and it's going to be a great challenge to try to beat them.”
Klay Thompson, when asked about Jordan Poole injuring Ja Morant.
“I don't even think he's strong enough to affect somebody's knee, but we're not out there trying to hurt people or trying to club people in the back of the head on a fast break. We play the game the right way.”
Greg Popovich on the Spurs defensive effort on Stephen Curry: "I thought we did well until he decided to do what he wanted to do, and then he did what he wanted to do way better than anything we wanted to do. That's who he is."
Steve Kerr on Game 6 Klay Thompson:
“I couldn't help but feel overjoyed for Klay, given everything he's been through, to see him knock down that final three and hold up six fingers and embrace the crowd, and vice versa. It just brought chills to me.”
Klay on Steph Curry in the 4th quarter:
“Me, him, and JP shots weren't falling like we wanted them to, but that's just Steph. He has that mindset where he's the best shooter of all time. It just takes one good look at the rim or the free-throw line...Then the floodgates open.”
Chris Paul on when he knew Steph Curry was different: "A long time ago. Steph went on a family vacation with my family to Orlando, so we could work out...It's not just the shooting. It's the handle...He just kept getting better and better. I'm not shocked."
Jonathan Kuminga: "I was excited to play against the Lakers. Growing up I used to watch them because of Kobe (Bryant). Everyone watched LeBron (James) growing up. Going in there and playing against him was super cool. I did okay."
Steph Curry on him vs. JA narrative:
“You know what sales, but it's team basketball. There's no way to win at this level without everybody contributing...It's a beautiful thing when you look at everybody that contributed tonight. It's going to be the same way the whole series.”
Steve Kerr talked about Stephen Curry closing the game.
“Steph kind of smelt blood in those last five minutes...Steph did what Steph does. Something like that.”
Draymond Green on Stephen Curry's 40 point performance: "Tonight he was incredible. The way he took the game over in that fourth quarter was amazing...That's why he's the MVP of this league. That's why he's been the face of this franchise for years."
Stephen Curry on having Klay Thompson's jersey in his locker at MSG the night he broke the record:
"It was amazing to honor him even though he wasn't there. To let him know I'm not the shooter I am if I don't get to see Klay every single day doing what he does."
Stephen Curry on Otto Porter:
"I know he's been through a lot of injuries and all that, but he's been working his butt off since he got here this summer. He looks confident and composed with what he was trying to do and getting to his spots, and he's knocking them down."
Jonathan Kuminga talked about Jordan Poole's go-ahead three at the end of the game.
"He works hard every single day and I knew that was his time, that was his moment. I knew he was going to make it. He missed the first one and great players won't miss the second one."
The Warriors lost the regular-season series 3-1 to the Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks. Things have been going differently in the postseason.
Klay Thompson on the clutch three-pointer he made against the Nets:
"It felt amazing. It really did... I miss that feeling. So, it felt absolutely amazing."
Jonathan Kuminga on not making the Rising Stars roster:
"I don't really worry about that, as long as I'm still playing and getting better every single day. When you go to the Rising Stars game it's not helping you work on your craft...I'd love to be there but they passed on me."
Gary Payton II said he spoke with Dillon Brooks.
“Yeah, we talked. It's all good. It's a basketball play. I know he didn't mean it, but no hard feelings, no bad blood. It's all good. It's playoff basketball.”
Steve Kerr on Stephen Curry: "He has a reputation of being a poor defender. I don't see that at all. I think he's a really good defender. He's been great defensively all year."
Steph Curry: "I was just joking about JK, Moody, Jalen...they were like 13, 14 when we won our first championship...Being side by side is kind of crazy...welcoming them and the new generation, that influence and all that but still not pass the torch too soon."
Andrew Wiggins on his assist to Stephen Curry to break the record after Draymond Green said he never passes on that play: "It's a bucket first, but I seen Steph with a little bit of space and a chance to make history, so I gave it up, and he made the shot."
Stephen Curry on their win against the Phoenix Suns:
“It’s nice to win on Christmas. It's nice to win on the road. We have the best record in the league, shorthanded with all the other
situations. It was definitely a huge win. Everybody stepped up. It was a great atmosphere."
Jordan Poole gives credit to his mom for helping him lead the NBA in free throws.
“Ever since I was young, she (mom) told me it wasn't nobody guarding me at the free-throw line. So I shouldn't be missing too many. Shoutout to mom’s that one was for you. It feels pretty awesome.”
I remember not too long ago people wanted to trade Andrew Wiggins. This season he's averaging 18.3 points on 48% shooting from the field, and the Warriors have the best record in basketball.
