Breaking news: Jimmy Carter, a no-frills and steel-willed Southern governor who was elected president in 1976, died Sunday at his home in Plains, Georgia, according to his son. He was 100 and the oldest living U.S. president of all time.

Launching into a new assignment at The Post, and I can’t wait to start. I’ll step aside from the daily news cycle for the first time in more than 15 years so I can focus all my time on transforming our newsroom. Really appreciate the trust of my colleagues that led me to this.
