3/doctors play an incredibly important role but not as the sole gatekeeper of information. Let doctors do their best work in triaging, diagnosing, treating & counselling and let’s empower patients to take control of their care with access to their OWN health information.

2/ The fact that we are placing stage 4 cancer patients into clinical trials (unknown to their oncologist and with their support) is an eg. of the difficulty clinician face consuming the constantly evolving treatment landscape.

CURES act one step closer to moving away from paternalistic care. Patients should be empowered to access their health information and make timely decisions.... we still use fax machines in medicine. We need to stop thinking of doctors as information gatekeepers 🚧🚧🚧🚧🚧🚧🚧🚧🚧
CURES act means patients are able to access much more information from their health record on their own time without intermediaries. It's exposing the very clear schism between what physicians think their role is to patients and what patients think that role is (see responses)
