It's a bit like hiring for cultural fit: we may want to evolve the culture? That would mean someone who doesn't quite fit our current one.

Harvard's Amy Edmondson says the people who most deserve workplace promotions are employees who challenge status quo & call out mistakes. People who most managers promote, however, are inherently compliant & rarely push back on their bosses. We need stronger #leadership. #CEO #HR

I get more programming productivity out of reducing the time that I'm stuck than from increasing my speed when I'm not stuck.

Ppl seem to think about adding processes, policies, procedures...but not retiring any of them. Sort of like always buying new clothes, without ever clearing out the closet of stuff that now longer works or fits.

I built Software for retailers for many years. I and my team members went to where they worked and spent time with them while they used our product. Outcomes are observed only after your product ships, not during sprint review. As a certified scrum trainer, this is what I teach.
@jeffpatton Not explicit enough? This is what is meant by ‘collaborating with stakeholders’ in #scrum, for instance in the sprint review. It’s good to remember to bring your own relevant practices to give hands and feet to the #inspect & #adapt loops that best help you maximize #value!

Projects overestimate the value of efficiency and underestimate the value of feedback, leaving us to discover at some very uncomfortable future moment a crucial piece of information that we designed our work not to tell us sooner. https://t.co/ajAos4nFFi
