So-called entrepreneurship programs, such as NYOTA, individualize responsibility for finding or failing to find a job while shifting attention away from the failure and profound inequities of Kenya's economic structure, effectively excusing the ineptness of our policy makers.

These Presidential launches of NYOTA disbursements must cost A LOT more than the actual amounts being disbursed. It's like spending 1 million KES to disburse 100,000KES. With these lopsided & warped priorities, there's no economic transformation coming to our SINGAPOOR.

On Nairobi’s streets and highways, it's easy to spot high-end cars. Gated communities with upscale apartments continue to mushroom in middle-class neighborhoods.

Proponents of Kenya Kwanza re-election typify the saying, "The best argument against democracy is a 5-minute discussion with the average voter." In the face of glaring & fundamental shortcomings, how can the current administration deserve reelection?

Given the total capture of the Legislature by the Executive and national & county levels, one has to wonder if there's any value for the taxpayers in bankrolling institutions that are too PLIANT as to make a nonsense of their cardinal constitutional role of OVERSIGHT.

This near entitlement to "Two-Term" by the President and his acolytes betrays our democracy. Re-election to office should be earned by performance. It shouldn't be a FAIT ACCOMPLI, a birthright even. Want to see what's ailing our fledgling democracy? Look at the Two-term choir.

What's the value of government if 136 newborns can die at public hospitals and life goes on as usual?

The politics of handouts (empowerment) and State House delegations are back in full swing. The proverb "the more things change, the more they remain the same" rings ever so true in our politics and governance. And that is the tragedy of our beloved land and nation.

The National Assembly has enjoyed financial autonomy since the 9th Parliament (2002-2007) but remains FIRMLY under the national executive's control. This is instructive even as some assume financial autonomy for County Assemblies means they'll be independent of County Executives.

The Luos should not "abandon" the fight for a just, equal, and democratic Kenya because of 2 CS and a few PS positions in the current administration. In doing so, they would have learned nothing from history.

The fight for a just, equal, and democratic Kenya is a fight for all Kenyans, even more so the Luos, who've historically borne the weight of marginalization and police brutality.

It is RIDICULOUS that some Luo politicians are propagating the "it's not our fight" narrative regarding the ongoing protests. For leaders of a region that has repeatedly and historically borne the brunt of police brutality/excess, it is the height of NAIVETY.

It has always been in the interest of the state, the establishment that Kenyans do not enjoy their right to protest and picket. So you need not be a genius to figure out who's behind the violence and goons narrative that's ferociously being waged against the protestors.

Why are we stuck with such a heartless and cold-hearted state/establishment? The life of an ordinary Kenyan means absolutely nothing to them.

This is totally unacceptable. Must not be tolerated @IPOA_KE @NPSOfficial_KE @HakiKNCHR @UNHumanRights

The COK 2010 was intended to reorient the state to be pro-citizen. However, the wielders of state power have successfully resisted that reorientation. So that 15 years later, the Kenyan state remains as it always was, anti-ordinary citizens.

It is heartbreaking to see the consistency with which those who preside over atrocities and grave violations of human rights of ordinary Kenyans get rewarded with the trappings and privilege of power.
