I felt very emotional when I read this post written by my son. He remembers who I was; a frightened, ill, shell of a person, hanging on to sanity by a thread. But I didn’t save myself, I didn’t have the strength or the ability to drag myself out of the pit that I was in.

Nearly eight (!!!) years since I started making notes for/talking/thinking about this book, and the latest draft has just gone in. It is (hopefully) publishing in May next year in the UK/Ireland with 4th Estate, and June in the US with Scribner.

Of all the good opinions I was most anxious to secure, author @CauveryMadhavan was top. So phew! And thank you!
In Croatia, but I may as well have been in Delhi! A really fantastic read from @PaulWaters99 - a whodunit, set in Chandni Chowk. A witty, retired Irish nun and a charming hotelier take us on a riveting, technicolour jaunt of modern day India. Superb! #MurderInMoonlitSquare

What worries me most about the recent Assembly debate on ‘victims’ is that I believe many hundreds of those killed or injured were completely, utterly, unambiguously innocent. I knew some of them. My worry is that the reality of complete innocence is in danger of being forgotten.

When I was given work at @QUBelfast I had to show my passport to prove my entitlement to work. Mine is an Irish passport, so legit. But would an Irish person living in RoI applying for a job inNI have to get this digital ID? @bbctalkback

RTE may be embracing the F-word but the pearl-clutching sensibilities of the BBC help keep swearing’s potency alive ✍️ @malodoherty

We Irish swear more than the English do. That’s the impression you get from watching RTE anyway.
