If America's founders thought democracy was utterly terrible, why did they establish a democratic republic? You can nitpick endlessly about whether the USA is a 'democracy' or a 'republic.' But they certainly were far more republican and democratic than you.
@magicinthealps A system that everyone universally considered terrible, including America’s founders, the ancient Greeks and Romans, and every intellectual until the 1900s progressive movement who decided they some how just knew better “because”.

You can buy a French castle for significantly cheaper than a cottage in Lakemba in Sydney . Over 90 per cent of the population of Lakemba was born overseas or had at least one parent born overseas (ABS data). Amazing country
