cue brain-melting didgeridoo music.
I am finding out the Australian Aborigines have a story in their folklore that is almost identical to a story in Greek myth. Way too much for coincidence. More to come on the next Madness episode on @madmethodpod.

Joan Lindsay’s PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK (1967) is about the disappearance of female boarding school students during a picnic in central Victoria. Lindsay’s framing of the novel as a true story, with pseudohistorical bookends, led many to believe the novel was based on real events.
As the upcoming series on Gerald Murnane's THE PLAINS coalesces out of the scant layer of haze where land and sky merge, I'm going to be taking a look at a few other great novels out of Australia.
