The white hair alludes not only to Ororo's, but also to the lasting impact that her father's abuse has on her. It's a really, really well done origin, especially when it's next to Hisako's, whose life was also changed forever by the hurricane of social media.

Mei was a quiet artist on the opposite side of the world, with a normal childhood, that couldn't look LESS like Ororo. In a moment of need, suddenly radicalized, she forces herself to undergo a metamorphosis to be just a little bit more like that goddess she has a crush on.
It’s kind of weird how some of y’all get about Maystorm. Peach Momoko is such a huge fan of Storm that she made a character who dyes her hair white and becomes a freedom fighter because she idolizes her. But for some reason some people feel Storm’s being slighted?
