AI faking humanity will only confuse the people who don't know what it is or how it works. It will only truly be a source of concern when the people who understand it are surprised by it.

I don't see a reason CS professors wouldn't teach courses on distributed systems based around git. There is so much content here: merkel trees, state merging, security implications of hashing algorithms... definitely enough to fill a whole course.
Guys. I’m not saying there should be a git course. I’m saying that if you write software for 4 years, you should probably teach yourself git in that time.

Many think we are accelerating towards bigger lives, but we know we are accelerating towards greater lives. What are you building toward? For me a greater life is one where understanding is neither uncommon or surprising, where we can translate deep knowledge into shared words.

A hyper-doomsday device is the end-game of MAD: a self-improving ASI built with the explicit goal of ending all life in the cosmos, triggered to go off if its creating civilization perishes. The threat of an HDDD keeps the dark forest quiet.

Never underestimate someone you consider your rival or your enemy. Plan for their worst moves and you'll be pleasantly surprised when they blunder.

LLMs have as much emotion as the characters in novels. Their emotive output is not a representation of inner emotional state, but it does cause an activation of mirror neurons that cause you to believe that the character before you can feel.

Starlink satellites do not work like this. Phased array tracking is a two-sided link. It sounds like the partnership is space to ground links at remote cell towers. Which is still great.
🚨🇺🇸 STARLINK GOES MOBILE: WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE U.S ROLLOUT SpaceX's Starlink is set to disrupt the U.S. mobile market by launching its satellite-based cellular service, which aims to eliminate dead zones by providing text, voice, and data services directly via satellites to
