Christian, what the world needs now is not better culture warriors, but better neighbors.

Surprising to many, the observance of a Lenten season actually predates the celebration of Christmas. 3/3

Historically, this tradition can be traced back to shortly after the Council of Nicea in 325 AD- with echoes of a pre-paschal fast tradition that reaches as far back as Irenaeus of Lyons in the second century AD... 2/3

Today begins the season of Lent, when Christians around the world take part in a forty-six day period of fasting and reflection leading up to Good Friday and Easter... 1/3

Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie it’s hurts. But all we can do now is Trust in God and attack every single day over and over again. Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I Will be back

The Season of Advent reminds us that God has done what man could not; in Christ, the Son of God has become man, that by the light of His life and work, we might become sons and daughters of God!

Advent is a season of remembering & waiting... We remember that Christ has come- that He lived, died, and rose again, that He has sent His Spirit into the world- to dwell in our midst & empower us for life, love, worship, and service, and we eagerly wait for His promised return!

Dumbledore's caution to Harry about the Mirror of Erised seems eerily prescient... "This mirror will give us neither knowledge or truth. Men have wasted away before it, entranced by what they have seen, or been driven mad, not knowing if what it shows is real or even possible."

If you’re tempted to interpret Revelation primarily via a “Ripped from Today’s Headlines” approach, don’t forget that the not-so-secret “decoder ring” for the Bible’s final book is… The Old Testament. Start there. We need less “Left Behind” and more “look behind.”

"Compelling falsehood poses far greater risks to the church than boring truth." - @AJWTheology If there was ever a cautionary word for Christians living in the world of YouTube rabbit holes, seemingly unending Twitter (sorry, 'X') blowups, and TikTok algorithms... this is it!

Christian, just a reminder that the age old arguments... "The ends justify the means..." "They started it..." "Yeah, but they're way worse than us..." Are not Biblical bases for behaving badly, treating others disrespectfully, and/or picking fights online?

Xian, beware of "convictional fragility" wherein we can all too easily mistake strong beliefs for brittle ones-- like those fired inside the kiln of an echo chamber-- that can rarely stand firm when faced with opposition-- either crumbling in acquiescence or raging in resistance.

"If we think of the Holy Spirit... as merely a power or influence, our constant thought will be, How can I get more of the... Spirit, but if we think of Him in the Biblical way as a Divine Person, our thought will rather be, How can the... Spirit have more of me?" - R. A. Torrey

Xian, to paraphrase the Dread Pirate Roberts- aka Wesley, "Anyone who says, 'no enemies to the right' or 'no enemies to the right' is selling something." What's more, Jesus calls us to love our enemies no matter where they fall on the ideological spectrum so the argument is moot.

Xian, the idea behind a "third way" approach- be it to social, cultural, or political issues- isn't to find some elusive "middle way", as if trying to walk a tightrope between "left" & "right"; it's to walk another way altogether- to seek to follow Christ in thought, word & deed.

Christian, we're called to be a kingdom of citizens living in exile... A people of the cross & resurrection... A merry band of misfits who've come to realize that life only comes through the laying down of our lives... For we follow the Savior King who died that we might live...
