💡REPORT: Court Rejects MIT Lawsuit Over Gaza Protests, Affirms Campus Free Speech The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit has dismissed a discrimination suit by two Jewish students and the pro-Israel group StandWithUs, ruling that MIT’s handling of pro-Palestine
VICTORY: The First Circuit just ruled that pro-Palestinian slogans, encampments and criticism of Zionism is protected by the First Amendment -- tossing out a Zionist complaint targeting pro-Palestinian organizing at @MIT!

It is heinous to do science research for a genocidal, fascist state. Shame on the criminals at MIT who enable it, blessings and love to those who resist, who think critically, who organize together, who act with courage and conviction.

“As a military science school, MIT students and staff have a unique responsibility to stand up to the U.S.–Israeli war machine and prevent more horrifying violence in Palestine.”

"One contract is down, but we won’t stop until MIT announces a full research stoppage for the Israeli military."
SCOOP: An MIT professor canceled an Israeli military funded research grant after pressure from students. “This concession shows that student campaigns do have an influence,” one student said. "These ties cannot survive transparency."

After Megha Vemuri's historic speech against genocide, Meta suspended our account. This is a chilling act of 21st century censorship. We remain defiant: the truth must be known, and MIT's complicity must be resisted. Follow our Instagram backup @masstech_caa for updates.

When we are persistent and organized, we win. We will continue raising costs until we force MIT to stop legitimizing genocide and stop developing weapons and tools for the Israeli government in violation of international law.

We're also making gains. We got Lockheed Martin out of our career fair. Lockheed ended its MISTI seed fund to recruit students to their weapon offices in Israel. With @BDSBoston we then forced Israel's largest arms maker, Elbit Systems, out of MIT's Industrial Liaison Program.

Throughout our history, MIT students like Megha have spoken truth to power and challenged MIT's ties to crimes against humanity. We did it during the Vietnam War, South African apartheid, and the genocide in Darfur. Now we fight for a free Palestine.

MIT has the power to unilaterally decline IOF sponsorship offers and give affected laboratories transitional funding. In fact their OWN POLICY on foreign engagements requires it. MIT undertook similar research divestment for Saudi Arabia in 2020 and Russia in 2022.

MIT’s ties to the genocide are UNPOPULAR. In 2024, 64% of campus-wide voters in the undergrad association and 71% in the grad student union demanded IOF OUT OF MIT RESEARCH. We even built an encampment like our predecessors who protested MIT investments in apartheid South Africa.
