If nobody else has beaten me to it, making the ESP32 module on the PCB (eliminating the module) would probably work out well, as then the entire board could be made at the usual places. It seems to work reasonably well otherwise!

I built a few of the KV4P Android transceiver project boards, but they've not turned out too well 😕 The specified parts for the LPF don't fit the PCB and so the inductors are fragile (I dripped a bit of adhesive on them) and the ESP32 module specified isn't the right size.

Every once in a while, it's nice to make something that's simple, without crazy constrains, and just get it done! This time, a simple change to the classic Arduino LCD Shield to support (a) register reads (R/W# connectivity) as that's usually tied off and (b) 3.3V I/O for FPGAs.

Power finally restored. New cable from street service head to house... Digging up road and my front garden.

@UKPowerNetworks have been here most of the day. 4 vans and an offroad truck. The 1980s cable has a broken neutral about 30m from my house. They're currently waiting on traffic lights to stop the road and dig a hole. We've been waiting hours! If you live in Fordham: Sorry! 😬
