7/7 *I remain a proud union member and support the dispute with the employer. So please regroup honourably, honestly, effectively; for the majority and give us a savvy, 21st century union strategy/plan we can all get behind. @ucu #ucu

6/7 *I used ballot ‘3rd voting option’ of not voting (with a heavy heart) because I knew the votes returned would favour strike action but sensed this is no longer the majority position among colleagues. Union action should be for/by the many not the few 🤷‍♂️ @ucu #ucu

5/7 *There was a ‘red brick’ lean in declaring this latter strike as targeting induction. We were in week 2 and it was awful timing. Seek to understand the nuances of your member institutions more in ur strategies @ucu #ucu

4/7 *The ‘end of season sale’ week of strikes was a disgrace. You used a strike mandate just because it was there. You should have regathered membership momentum nobly, consulted, clarified strategy and reballoted. But you sent us over the top… @ucu #ucu

3/7 *Union members were then further divided by the MAB. It felt more hurtful to students than anything else and I couldn’t bring myself to prevent students graduating by not marking - and it didn’t work anyway. @ucu #ucu

2/7 *There was a deal on the table that @DrJoGrady recommended. I agreed with this. It felt enough of a victory and had suitable conditions to hold UCEA to account. The next day the HEC rejected it - this was a grave error imo. Confusion and split is what has followed. @ucu #ucu
