Right now there's a fantastic exhibition at the Museo de Bellas Artes, Valencia, of the often overlooked Golden Age master Pedro Orrente (a personal favourite). Also includes work by contemporaries and influences including Bassano, Veronés, El Greco, Ribalta. Superb.

Three years ago, I read side-by-side Cervantes' original Quijote & the brilliant Tobias Smollett 1755 translation. Now I'm reading & comparing the modern Trapiello version & the John Rutherford 2002 translation. A novel that is absolutely in a class of its own.
