4 years ago, I received a stethoscope from @UMichMedSchool. It has served as a constant reminder that in order to heal, we must listen. Grateful to learn from mentors committed to listening and uplifting the communities we serve - in clinic, in the OR, and in our research.
Congratulations to Luca Borah for receiving the Student Research Award! This is presented to a medical student or graduate student who has demonstrated originality and scientific merit in research.

Katie had done all she could to prepare for this road trip. She’d packed candy, researched how to change a tire, and she’d spent hours on Google Maps, searching for the closest Walgreens in Alabama. But much remained unclear. Would they make it by noon for her son Ray’s

Trans youth already face numerous barriers - from familial support and discrimination to insurance coverage and costs. Increased travel times may further exacerbate delayed treatment, inability to get care, and mental health outcomes.
