I'm back! I've logged in after mat leave number 2 and found hundreds of emails and an alarming number of LinkedIn alerts. But I've got my first projects of the year being booked in and my summer of proofreading is shaping up nicely. ✍️

So lovely to catch up with @angiemcfarlane this morning and chat about exciting projects. In-person meetings seem few and far between these days and I had forgotten how nice it can be to have a cuppa and chat face to face. ☕️

Language and dementia are both topics close to my heart, so I find this blog very relevant.
Language is powerful, especially when it comes to #dementia. Consider the HUGE difference between saying ‘John needs feeding’ and ‘John needs support with eating’, for example. Our blog expands on this. Do let us know what you think.

Some good tips here on how to use 'every day' and 'everyday'. I often have to correct this one in people's work. 🖊️ #proofreading #editing #writingtips #language

I was asked to #proofread this blog before it went up, and it really spoke to me. It's so easy to fall into the trap of living to work. Do read if you have a moment.
How can we work to live rather than live to work? Here are our tips: 🧑 Carve out 'you' time. 🧑🤝🧑 Don't be afraid to share more. 👨👧 Learn from children. To find out more, read our full blog. #WorkLifeBalance

Just discovered @_BooksForChange. What an amazing initiative! 👏 I'm always looking for books for Harry, and am often shocked and disappointed by the boring gender stereotypes and total lack of diversity in some of the books out there – even a lot of the mainstream ones.

I was thrilled to be asked to proofread Sarah's book on home education. If home education is something you're thinking about, you definitely need to read this book. #homeschool #homeschooling #proofreading #editing
If you are considering home educating your children, but are not sure if it’s the right option for you, I’ve written a book to support and coach you through the decision making process. ☺️ https://t.co/DXoFFJNVwO

I am thrilled to be adding my work with Plan with Care as another string to my bow. 🏹 It's fantastic to be working with people who are making such a positive change! 🙏
We recently welcomed Lizzie to our team as Communications Officer. As an experienced proofreader, editor and copywriter, she is helping with our social media presence and overall communications strategy. When she isn't working, she can be found swimming on the Kent coast! 🏊♀️

Exciting times, @EmmaRosenBooks! 📖✒️
I received the final proofread a few days ago and since then I've been working on all the last little fiddly bits that need to be changed on the final files. This printout of the spreads has thrown up a few issues that need addressing - but this is almost it guys!

Dementia and language are both topics close to my heart, so I found this a really interesting and informative read. #languagematters
Language is powerful. It matters. Which is why we feel passionately that the language we use around dementia should be appropriate, supportive and empowering. Read our full blog to find out more and let us know your thoughts. #dementia

Here's one, @CrescentCopy. "There's nothing you can do that can't be done. There's nothing you can sing that can't be sung." 🪲🎶

This is a great explanation! I come across tautology a lot in the things I #proofread. 🔎
