Sterol composition in plants is specific to pollen, leaf, pollination & pollinator & differs from wind & animal pollinated species but no evidence that sterols evolved to support insect pollinators. Great job by @SamuelFurse w/@Carlitoscapac & @HaukeKoch https://t.co/ZL1U5TGusZ

I've been struggling with reviving old analyses for four papers (sorry co-authors). To recharge ~procrastinate~ I took a break with something less technical. This post has some details about the finer points of sampling nectar with micro-cap tubes. https://t.co/T5PZok5LW4

Here is a rare bee called a Brachynomada melanantha. The likely host, Anthophorula chionura, in the 2nd image had a large population in the area. One very interesting thing about this bee is according to the key, although the host tribe is known, the exact host bee is unknown.

Our winner in the Behaviour: Invertebrates category is Frank Deschandol. His image 'A tale of two wasps' is a remarkable framing of a red-banded sand wasp (left) and a cuckoo wasp, about to enter next-door nest holes. #WPY56
