i could see the ending of lltbp being inspired by the “to be or not to be” (to live or to die) conundrum. hamlet debates taking his life to end his suffering. maybe the only way the cycle of suffering theyve been forced into can cease is for gerard to die. permanently.
gerard as hamlet… the ways in which hamlet demonstrates ‘madness’ have also all been done by gerard. have they been turned mad by the (re)conditioning process or are they actually faking it to trick draag into thinking they are weak and thus can later enact unexpected revenge?
