i don't think minecraft speedrunning is for me...

it's very rare i share my opinions because in the end it isn't that deep - but if this trend is allowed to continue it sets a horrible precedent that could seriously crush creativity (don't misread this as me saying aimslop is creative, it's not about that) and it's wrong 7 /🧵

there has to be a mentality shift from both sides of the argument or we are just going to go back to the same genetically engineered ranked section we had a few years ago and have this exact same conversation again in 2/3 years. this cycle has to stop. 6 /🧵

if you aren't interested in improving a map and want to destroy somebodies work, i'm sorry but you should take a look at yourself and rethink your position in the game. how about you create a better version of the map instead? do something positive with that mindset. 5 /🧵

i believe if you are actually interested in improving a map to a rankable state, you would mod it properly. anonymising this process makes it difficult to have a conversation when you don't know who you are talking to - it's counterproductive to what the end goal should be 4 /🧵

vetoes have not been fit for purpose for a long time and this system isn't either because mapping is so insanely polarised now, that it's clear a large enough segment of bns are not interested in improving maps, just killing them outright. 3 /🧵

this is not what the veto system is/should be used for! you can apply the statements used not only in these vetoes, but recent vetoes before this new system to the vast majority of maps in the game. how on earth this has been allowed, endorsed, and encouraged is farcical. 2 /🧵

seeing lots of people missing the point here! i don't care if you think the maps vetoed in question are trash - i agree in some cases! i care about the fact these vetoes are low effort, vibe-modded bullshit with zero thought put towards improving the maps. 1 /🧵

another fun fact - all of these vetoes are for almost identical reasons. is the goal here to actually improve the maps with mapper intentions in mind (which is how you become a bn in the first place?), or is it to remove them from the ranked queue, be honest.

are you happy now? 5 vetoes in 48hrs. if this is the future of mapping that people want then so be it - i don't want to be part of it. how about we use positive feedback/reinforcement to improve the ranked section rather than whatever this is?
