Without whinging, I think one of the problems is that we are trying to implement pre-covid frameworks and expectations on to a post covid world. The world has changed, but the institutions and authorities will not accept this. ‘Back to normal’ isn’t working.

@llewelyn20 The knock on effect on confidence, well-being and progress just doesn’t compute with this regime Bailing out bankers is a necessity but investing in society with its exponential positive impacts is the flip side to the same coin of their short sightedness

@llewelyn20 It was said at the time and gleefully ignored by Ofsted and the DfE. It is not business as usual in many primaries teaching an overstuffed, fussy curriculum that allows no room to breathe. Children need more outdoor learning - it’s long been shown to improve wellbeing.

@llewelyn20 I think this is very true (at least in primary). We are trying to play covid catch up but at the same time the new (but pre covid) OFSTED framework has piled on the pressure of an overstuffed curriculum. There aren't enough hours in the week to teach it all but yet still we try.

@llewelyn20 I was just talking to our English lead about this today, with regards to reading habits. It's a real concern.

@llewelyn20 Yes we need to find a new way, we should never have defaulted back to ‘before’. Let’s find a new and better way forward, which is Covid informed.

@llewelyn20 We also had a chance for a new normal not a back to normal which we failed to take. Why are we so anxious?

@llewelyn20 100%. They've layered covid on let's do 60 muns exercise a day, plus SATS, plus new phonics, plus e safety, plus British values, plus knowimg your vision etc etc etc. It's the layers that are killing us. We need to be trusted to do what the children need without faff

@llewelyn20 Absolutely. Recent inspection with a very fair lead inspector but I got increasingly frustrated and cross because of what she was having to ask me to evidence. I kept having to bring her back to the impact of the pandemic.

@llewelyn20 Totally agree, we’re trying to change bits but our hands are tied with the demands of the curriculum, education needs to catch up with the 21st century but it will take someone with gusto to act on this at the DfE, unfortunately haven’t seen anyone who measures up
