Official announcement : I’m going to be a substantive Head and Neck Consultant job at
@UHNM_NHS
😎
So very proud and excited to permanently join the
@HeadStoke
team after being a locum for the past 9 months!
Obligatory photo of how I’m celebrating after my interview today 🍾🥂
A low point of my weekend ward round on call… 😫
Even more reason to champion our new Women’s Network at UHNM to share our experiences and promote our voices
There is so much work we can do together so please keep an eye out for our upcoming meetings 👀
All are welcome!
At 17:30 today, I held my beautiful little girl’s paw as I said good night for the very last time.
We had the most incredible 8 years with the you and I’m heartbroken to say goodbye. Lots of love please 💕
Celebrating with friends at work after officially getting my outcome 6 today! As of July 1st I’m proud to be starting as an ENT Consultant with the fantastic team in Hull!
Vaccinating again this morning!
@UHNM_NHS
I want to reassure those people with allergies that we are giving the Pfizer vaccine safely to people with a history of anaphylaxis/carry EpiPens. No issues encountered so far, but always discuss your concerns with your vaccinator 😊
After a ridiculously busy 96 hours on call (the highlight of which was definitely this
@UHNM_NHS
pizza vending machine at 22:00…) I’m off to the lakes for some well deserved hikes ☺️
Have a great bank holiday everyone!
#SmugAlert
!!! I am so proud of myself, only started baking at the start of lockdown and this is what I’ve made today 😍
Cookies and cream three layer chocolate cake with buttercream!
@bakingmedics
thank you for your encouragement, baking makes me smile so much!
Just finished my 2nd night shift volunteering on
@UHNM_NHS
critical care unit!
Hope I was more help than hindrance to the fantastic staff working flat out in such challenging times.
Massive thank you for looking after me on Pods 3 & 4, I’ll be back soon (with more red bull 😝)
It’s been a week of ups & downs for me...
Although one relative is in hospital, I’ve had some lovely news that I’m an Auntie to another little girl as of yesterday & my parents have got a date for their COVID vaccinations!
Celebrating whilst helping out on crit care tonight 💪🏻
I’m rather proud of my latest baking effort…
This is a three layer Victoria sponge cake, seedless raspberry jam and buttercream filling, buttercream finish, drip effect and red berries 😍
Wishing the recipient a very happy birthday and hope it tastes good!
Fab first day in my new consultant job in Stoke! 🙌🏻
Such a fantastic welcome from everyone at
@UHNM_NHS
and I really can’t wait to get stuck in working with the amazing head and neck team 🥳
@HeadStoke
Merry Christmas everyone 🥂🎄
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, whether you’re with family, friends or your own fantastic self, have a lovely time and enjoy 🥰
As well as mince pies I also made gingerbread people!
Any (reasonable) suggestions for decorating the remaining 20+ ones I have left will be considered and posted 😁
I’ve decided to challenge myself tomorrow and get to the top of Scafell Pike (this will be my second attempt after failing due to the weather last year) 🙌🏻
Any advice on the best route up to take? And if anyone fancies joining me then please do!
Photo from Ullswater today ☺️
Exploring the stunning coastline of Northern Ireland today!
The Causeway Coastal Route and Torr Head Scenic Route are just incredible in the sunshine ☀️
*excited screaming* 😍😍😍
This is the most amazing present and I cannot wait to try it out!! Colleagues at work, I’m sorry but the baking ante has just been upped… 😁
Massive thank you to my brother and his family x
Start of annual leave!! 😍
First week off since October... here’s to a fun week of lovely food, lots of baking, long walks outside and maybe a glass or two of wine, cheers!
Oh and an awesome present (from me to me) is being delivered tomorrow!
Having a weekend of Halloween films and baking 😋
First up are some chocolate orange brownies 🍫🍊 (left them in a minute too long but wow they taste good)
@bakingmedics
Cheers! Finally get to celebrate with a drink on my birthday after being on call over the weekend and a full clinic today 🥳
Although many good things have happened in the past 12 months, there have also been low points... here’s to many more positives now I’m 34 😆
Please forgive the eggy mess that is my first attempt at a Vicky Sponge 🥺
I have surrounded it in brownies in an attempt to appease the Twitter Baking Gods 🙏🏻
Such a beautiful surprise waiting for me in clinic today!!
I absolutely love my job and gestures like this are never expected but very humbly received. Thank you to my wonderful patient for these ☺️
Yes it’s just after 1AM, but I’ve finished it!
Many thanks to my lovely
@bakingmedics
buddies for your suggestions, I’m pretty chuffed with how this special cake has turned out
😋🍰🍾
Double orange cake going down well at work 😋
The lovely
@NeelyMozawala
gave me some tips and so kindly gifted me all of the tools I need to start improving on my cake decoration skills, definite improvement on the buttercream work I think 🥰

Still an ENT Surgeon in Hull... but slightly concerned that the ED docs in Cambridge might be working in the buff! Always grateful for hosptial scrubs (no matter where they started their life!)
On a sunny day like this, my little trouble maker would be running around the garden, eating the cut grass, getting green paws and face before some well earned sunbathing.
It’s been 6 months since she died and still miss her every day ❤️🐶🐾
Back home in the UK after the most incredible time in India 🇮🇳
Thank you so much
@aiims_newdelhi
for inviting the
@HeadStoke
and
@KeeleASTC
teams to share our knowledge and skills on the TOET 24 Course!
Prof Thakar and Prof Sikka have been been fantastic hosts ☺️
Been a bit quiet on here as of late… all is good, lots of exciting things to post in the next few weeks but for now, my first attempt at bread!
Easter Kalács Bread -recipe and instructions courtesy of one of my best friends and “not on Twitter” medic baker ☺️
Today is a day for reflection. It’s been 1 year since my colleague & friend Amged died from COVID-19.
I’ve often thought about him during this past year & have some amazing memories to remember him by.
Treasure each day & smile (just like he always did)

HOME FOR FAMILY CHRISTMAS! 🥰
My present has arrived!!
Now I can focus and enjoy playing music again, feel like I’ve not had the time or energy during training but I am so excited about this! 🎹🎶
Start of annual leave!! 😍
First week off since October... here’s to a fun week of lovely food, lots of baking, long walks outside and maybe a glass or two of wine, cheers!
Oh and an awesome present (from me to me) is being delivered tomorrow!
Cheers! Here’s to the end of a very busy week, doing my first transoral endoscopic case at Stoke, being the consultant on call and triaging and reviewing our head and neck patients in clinic. Think I’ve earned a glass of wine and a cheeky takeaway 😋
So I’ve been asked to give a talk about my transition from trainee to consultant...
I can definitely talk about my own personal experiences but I would really appreciate thoughts/tips/resources from you all! As a new consultant, what did you wish you knew before you started?
Having the best day with my little lady who will soon be 9 years old!
She’s currently trying to get in to my wine stash and she sheds fur like crazy but I miss having her around more 🐶
