I used a real life leaf image to make a grayscale map and turned it into an alpha texture for maximum realism… funny thing is, no one’s probably gonna notice...but it makes me happy 😅

It’s time to start modeling the car.. so first I made these tyres.. Question: How do you usually retopo your models for games.. manually, use some addons, or just decimate it?

Finally found a simple fix for that black foliage issue in UE5 – Set material to Masked and Two Sided foliage – Connect Base Color to Subsurface Color (or use a separate color param for more control)
Guys, I made the grass using an alpha texture and selected Masked and Two-Sided in the material. The side where the light hits looks normal, but the other side is pitch black. I found a fix, but not sure if it’s the right way… how do you solve it?

There is a river next to the village, but who is gonna walk that far for water.. So, I modeled a well for the village instead. Now I am getting evil ideas to scare you in the game ...like something crawling out the moment you get close.

Made a dock and a bridge.. the bridge is modular, so I can shape the river scene however I want.

I already made all the outdoor assets for the village.. now it’s time to place them all. Honestly.. the scene looks terrible right now 😅.. But they say, trust the process..

Finally made the trees and added simple wind animation to the leaves... Now it’s time to see how many of them my laptop can handle before it explodes🔥

I don’t know how people use hair particle systems to place leaves and make it look good... mine ended up looking like trees on steroids.. So now I’m back to the old school manual method.

Made some cozy village furniture... until I realized they’d make perfect hiding spots ....not for the player, but for something else watching from the dark, waiting for a sneak attack. 👀

I made these village tools.. Now I’m wondering… what if the monsters could actually pick them up and attack you? Would that make the game more terrifying?

I made this watchtower for the village area of our game... a calm spot to just take in the scene before things get... spooky

They strike only from behind when you’re not looking, but as soon as you turn around, they scramble to hide. Here is a little clip of me chasing them. They scatter like roaches when caught. Note: The final gameplay will look much better than this.

Guys I made a bonfire, but I couldn’t get the burning wood texture right... just ended up painting it black 😅.. Anyone know how to make realistic burning wood in Substance Painter?

I made some simple wooden houses for the village. Gonna use these for the demo ... the final game will have a much better version of them.
