Just remember that even if it's not this year, HLX is real and has been for 6 years, the game has to be reaching the end of it's development cycle by now and will likely be announced in very early or mid 2026 at the latest. It's not over, you just have to wait a few more months.

i was kind of annoyed to see people seriously discussing this and then i open twitter and i see two big accounts posting this SOMEONE LITERALLY ASKED AI TO GENERATE A HALF LIFE 3 LEAK AND POSTED IT HOW ARE YOU GUYS FALLING FOR THIS WHAT THE FUCK

it can only be used as a flat trigger for large volumes of water, it would not work with "realistic real time fluid simulations". there's another water effect in HLX which is a particle for fluid leaking out of a container. that's all it is, a simple particle animation. (3/4)

hlx does have water and waterfalls but as far as we know, the water is only slightly more advanced than in Half Life 2. we *have* one of the water entities for hlx in other games like cs2, it's called trigger_buoyancy and it makes the player swim inside of it, but (2/4)

Having said all that, even if it doesn't get announced in 2025, HLX has been in development since at least early 2020. It only makes sense that it would then get announced in Early 2026. You're really only going to have to wait an extra few months at most.

A date a lot of people keep pointing to is December 3rd. There's nothing to imply this date is special in any way other than it being the 3rd. I guess it's also a Wednesday, which they're *slightly* more likely to announce on.

"Valve goes on Winter Break on the 12th" There are two caveats to this: - The Winter Break might actually start after the 16th, however this only adds two possible days (which right before a break are unlikely) - Valve has previously not gone on Winter Break in 2020 during Alyx

"Half Life 3 will not be at TGA, it's basically confirmed" The only single source for this is Mike Straw, who seems to be unsure. Tyler has stated it won't be at TGA, but this was purely a guess on his part based on Valve being bad at deadlines. It could absolutely be at TGA.

xPaw also found a "mysterious non-public Source 2 steam app" in the Steam database, however refuses to elaborate on it. In later Discord messages he implied it is something to be hopeful for. This could be the steam app for HLX or TF.

That being said, Tyler also has had other sources that have implied a 2025 announcement. It's important to keep in mind Tyler has never actually stated a date and personally **keeps saying it could be in 2026.**
