@DrDiGiorgio You can’t expect people to train 16yrs to be a specialized surgeon, give up your 20’s and mid thirties, accumulate $400-500k in loans to then have 100% responsibility of outcomes with little authority. It’s seeming more and more that society doesn’t value doctors and thinks we

Talking to independent physicians, it's obvious that the big insurance carriers are doing to them, what their PBMs are doing to independent pharmacies. They deny, underpay, slow pay, clawback, and create administrative mazes, knowing their victims don't have the time or

New post up: “From Trash to Treasure: Define Your Own Path.” https://t.co/1Mq1LkFO5W A look back at building https://t.co/yCItyIuh0z—messy, challenging, and worth it. Not a path for everyone, but the right one for me.

One of the most underappreciated dynamics in healthcare is Parkinson’s Law of Triviality: organizations devote disproportionate time to the issues that matter least. In behavioral economics, it’s called “complexity avoidance.” In healthcare, it’s usually called “the weekly

Very well stated. Please read.
For everyone who insists government will fix everything — and that doctors are just being selfish — here’s the stark reality. Physicians make up only about 8% of total healthcare spending, yet we carry the bulk of the clinical, regulatory, and administrative burden. And a

Love seeing this. I was an independent contractor from 2021-2024 before opening my own solo practice ( https://t.co/yCItyItJb1). Business ownership isn’t for everyone, but the ability to shape your work environment, define the kind of doctor you are and actively reduce barriers

For anyone interested in being an independent contractor, a message I just sent to Tyler Olson: "Fun fact for you advising any interventional Radiologists... I've worked 87 days so far this year as an IC and I have made more (pre tax, excluding benefits) as an IC than I made

This is insane. A clinic would bring in $2M more per year if a hospital simply owns the building. Nothing different besides the tax ID. Same doctors. Same brick and mortar. Same hand sanitizer on the walls. This is what a lack of site neutral payments does.
@DrPhilCez I’ve said it a dozen times on here. We did the math on our 2024 Medicare E&M visits alone. If we were employed by the local hospital the difference in payment for our little practice (6 docs+2NPs) from Medicare alone would have been $2M.

Once patients control their healthcare $, all providers must compete to make patients happy. That's when incentive alignment, power shift, and market transformation happen. Appreciate @DanCrenshawTX

@JahangirAsgha10 We should put together a thread of common misconceptions about money in Healthcare. 1. Doctors don't get a tax write-off for charity care or unpaid bills 2. Medicare hasn't increased payment rates to doctors since 1992 3. Seeing a hospital-employed doctor costs twice as much

Critical to define who we are and what we do.

This is why it’s really challenging to hire interventional radiologists right now. The market for diagnostic radiology is absolutely insane. What was once taboo to poke the hospital bear and ask for subsidies is now standard practice. We are seeing more and more separation of

Over the past several decades, an appealing idea rapidly gained popularity: The government could advance a health care system that rewarded the quality of care rather than the volume of care. Medicare began leveraging its economic might to require physicians and hospitals to
