"Public domain" means public domain. Anyone can do anything with our files, without our permission. Many of us would rather not be used to train AI, but they're not doing anything illegal.
@librivox @LibriVoxateers LibriVox readers: did you know your voices were used to train AI speech for Microsoftās Vall-E, which used Metaās audio library Librilight, and drew from Librivox narration? 60k hours of narration from 7k readers. Did anyone ask for your permission?

it would be good if we could all pay a little attention to the hachette v. internet archive lawsuit, which is crucial for continued existence of libraries' ability to lend digital content. the court ruled against the internet archive, who is now trying to appeal that decision
