I feel like we’re moving into an age of indie & personalized software. Big tech companies seem to be in decline & it feels like there’s a real appetite & openness around niche/customizable tech. Neovim, Obsidian, new PLs like Zig & Gleam… The abundance of options rn is freeing.

Also, to clarify, I generally set a zero tolerance policy for myself but every 6 months or so I’m like “I’ve grown, I can probably handle playing some games casually” then n hours later I decide this isn’t the case and reinstate the policy, like I described above.

@Voltorik_ This would be good. Or even just a project based program, even if it isn’t specifically business oriented, would be a huge step up from most undergrad cs programs. Like, “welcome to semester 3, start making a game!” or “for junior year you’ll be designing & making an interpreter”.

Maybe this is a false premise, as im equating “motivation to grind in uni” with “motivation to grind as an engineer” & I’m currently burnt the fuck out of school. But the thought process is: if I was truly aligned with “being a cracked engineer” Id be more academically motivated.
