It’s taken me all day to speak, but that’s because I’ve felt gutted. As a Black woman from the South, who has faced racism, I truly am scared. Nothing prepares you for such a loss when you are overqualified but still rejected by the majority. We are TIRED of this rhetoric.

While applying to med school, a school dean told my close mentor I couldn’t be taught bc I had taken the MCAT three times. Ten years later, I passed every exam + *BOARD CERTIFIED* Internal Med doc + in Heme fellowship. Never let labels determine what you achieve! #BlackDocStories

VERY exciting work being done by @fwgbd & I am so glad to be representing @YaleMed @YaleHemOnc this year! Women and girls with blood disorders, especially SCD, deserve to have adequate and equitable care throughout their lifespan & we are here to support them! #FWGBD24

Another Albany, GA legend and Spelman alumna has transitioned. 💔 My grandmother would tell me stories of how the Civil Rights Movement impacted our city and the importance of how singing shared our stories. Our songs and tributes ring even louder today in her honor. 💙
Composer, historian, musician, and activist Bernice Johnson Reagon of Freedom Singers and Sweet Honey in the Rock, has passed away at 81. Her contributions to music and civil rights remind us of the enduring power of art to drive social change and she will be missed.

First week as a Classical Heme fellow ✅ It’s imperative that we highlight spaces we occupy and this week was a testament to that. The Classical Heme faculty are awesome here at @YaleHemOnc ❤️ Making this GA raised girl right at home!

On this day in 1965, Vivian Malone became the 1st black students to graduate from the University of Alabama in it's 134 years of existence. In 1963, Alabama Governor George Wallace physically blocked Vivian and James Hood, two black students, from enrolling in the University.

Black women are 3x times as likely to die because of pregnancy-related complications than their white counterparts. As we begin Black Maternal Health Week, we must ensure Black women get the care they deserve throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.

As we take a moment to celebrate Presidents' Day, I want to pay homage to the phenomenal Spelman Presidents who came before me. Their legacies of leadership inspire me each and every day in my efforts to carry out the vision of our founders. Spelman Presidents | Spelman College
