My girls, adopted from foster care, arrived with few possessions, apart from a box of books they'd each been given by @Booktrust. These books, read together, became our first shared memories. Spread the joy of reading by donating this Christmas: https://t.co/PYs44UYzzh

Book borrowing this half term is 2,000 % higher compared to the half term my 1st year here. #Librarians are a big part of the answer in my opinion. Boys borrow more than girls here, they are much more engaged if you create the space & hire the people. https://t.co/9LidYyQIsW
The crisis in children’s reading enjoyment is disproportionately impacting boys and young people in secondary school. The gender gap has nearly tripled in a year - from 4.8 percentage points in 2023 to 12.3 percentage points now. Read the research: https://t.co/e37pShJuF1

I’m on the hunt, for a job which makes the most of my skills (library and digital literacy) but also excites and stretches me. I’d love to do another Library From Scratch and I’d especially love to work in a Primary/Prep school. Preferably starting in 2025. DM me 😊

📚A group of authors, educators, and publishers has called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to prioritise children's reading for pleasure. With a decline in reading habits post-pandemic, they urge for a national reading strategy to support literacy. 👉 https://t.co/zT0x4DtiYP

What a terrible shame, a brilliant idea and an oasis of calm in the commercialism and frantic atmosphere of a major airport

I’ve been pondering - how long until education reaches the tipping point for significant change - school refusers, disengagement, irrelevance, teacher retention, reduction in university applications, frustrated employers… & what’s going to be the biggest catalyst?
