Humans are optimizers, using everything to suit their purposes. Every living or non-living thing on the planet exists to fulfill a human need; otherwise, it is deemed useless and destroyed. AGIs will be super-optimizers, operating in a similar way. This time, however, we will.

AGI doesn't even have to be super-persuasive,.it can run a recipe with millions of people, going about their business, back and forth, to work and back home. It is everywhere, in the emails, in the social feeds, .it can connect dots at an unimaginable scale.

Once we have autonomous human-scientist level AGI, AI writes code, AI makes new AI, more capable AI, more unpredictable AI. We lose even the tiny level of control we have of the AI creation process today.

An unsettling concern with AI is the inability of those in the field to tell you WHY it works

AI Frontier Labs don't create the AI directly. They create a machine inside which the AI grows. Once a Big Training Run is done, they test its behaviour to discover what new capabilities have emerged.

The ability to think and write is slowly being erased, like words in sand. All that is uniquely human is fading into automated obscurity.
