> Progress isn’t linear. It’s dynamic, sometimes dissonant, and always demanding. But it’s also a new opportunity for us to shape, lead through, and have greater impact than ever before. sobering to realize ChatGPT can now out-write @satyanadella .

reading a post about complicated sleep rituals to ensure 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep the morning after the 5yo comes into our room at 3:30am crying, 2yo interrupts our sleep at least twice, and both wake us up for the day too early.

"I got confused because I use a private helper method in my own setup". Sometimes these excuses from chatgpt are so outlandish they're almost charming.

code like this makes me realize that elixir is just so objectively superior. i can match messages, in the function definition, and just match the prefix. this is just such an annoying thing to do normally

I'm unsure of what this implies but I get much more engagement with real people with far fewer followers on mastodon. Do what you will with that information.

Somebody on reddit complained that it "was obvious from their writing that he's in his 30s" and I keep thinking about that comment.

until the employment market corrects for it, i don't know how you convince people entering the economy to break their bodies in trade schools for 1/4 the salary of sending emails and typing questions into a chatgpt text box.

There seem to be very significant effects downstream of employers optimizing for minimal salaries. I know this is a trait of capitalism in general; but it's very pervasive now. the "best minds of my generation optimizing ad delivery" trope is wrecking. a lot of industries.

I love it when somebody tweets ā€œwhat’s the best 30 rock jokeā€ and everyone replies with their fave 30 rock joke. Can somebody pls do that? I would but I’ve done it too many times in the past and I should let somebody else have the engagement this time.

Immensely appreciative that How To Train Your Dragon was a focused live-action remake and didn’t try to jump the shark. So many shots 1:1 recreated from the original and I had no idea Gerard Butler voiced the original dad, lol.

I try very hard to be kind to people though. After leaving every position I’ve had I’ve always left very long, detailed recommendations for everyone on my immediate team, that always felt important to me.

i’ve been thinking about this and although I can’t think of anything specific I’m good at, it’s hard for me to _not_ find employment so I must be good at _something_.

Apart from your formal technical wheelhouse, what are your strongest work skills? Esp. those that arise from personality traits.

I feel like dhh is a ā€œlegendary programmerā€ the same way that Chef Boyardee is a legendary chef or James Gunn is a legendary director.
