It is clinically proven that social media is impacting our brains, and not in a positive manner. Adults barely understand the dopamine response our brains have, so we must learn as much as we can & have those sometimes difficult conversations with the young people we care about.
"It’s critical we talk with our young people about the many facets of social media use, even if those conversations are at times uncomfortable." https://t.co/4AQOkxlqSe

It's my last weekend before starting my new gig @CCSDK12 on Monday. I'm excited to serve the students, staff, and community as their Partner, Library Services. Every single student deserves outstanding library programs and all of the amazing resources they have to offer.

I wrote a book for teachers. It’s about joy, justice, and humanity. It publishes so very soon. It will help encourage and equip teachers. Thanks in advance for your support 🖤

I took a quick look at the site and bookmarked it to review more in depth later on. Thanks for archiving @BloomsburyLU

Spent 2 days unloading into the apartment & a storage unit. Now flying back to Houston to pick up the dog and my truck, then make the drive to Denver AGAIN. Oh, I'll hug the wife & daughter too while I'm there 😜😜😜

A federal appeals court last week rejected an unnamed Texas agency’s attempt to withhold records and shield its employees from appearing before a grand jury in a federal investigation that seems to be targeting Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Records don’t name the attorney general’s office, but their details line up with the accusations former top deputies made against Paxton.

Public education is how we build a better Kentucky, but we can't get there if our school funding is given to private corporations. Public dollars are for public schools. Period.

95% of Benbrook students live in or near poverty, & 68% speak another language at home. Improving their literacy skills helps them succeed. Thank you, Librarian Tonya Sapp, for encouraging your students to read, & thank you, donors, for enabling us to donate books. @TeamHISD

Children who have access to books that teach about body autonomy, the right to say no, and how to report when people in power are acting inappropriately are less likely to fall victim to people like this. The very books that people like this are trying to remove from libraries.
Here's @PsRobertMorris describing how he picked women to prey on, supposedly as a teenager before coming to Christ. However, according to Cindy, he preyed on her when she was only 12 and he was a 20-something, married, charismatic preacher. 1/2

Some of you might remember I took my book club on a field trip to the public library last month. I was excited when @karayorio reached out to write an article about it for SLJ and I'm even more excited to see it posted. Enjoy!

I was largely unaware of the environmental impact of AI for a while. If you are in the same boat that I was in, this article is well worth a read. As everyone seems to be praising the forward progress of AI, more of us need to be asking, "At what cost?" https://t.co/CdFPDyZSxi

I've been thing about the phrase "At what cost?" quite a bit lately. What are the tradeoffs we must make when we try something new, hold onto something old, sacrifice our principles, speak up, stay silent, pick a side, claim neutrality, move on, stay, focus, or take a wider view?

I'm fond of the duck analogy for what school librarians do - it looks like we are gliding on the surface, but under the water, our little flippers are paddling 1,000 miles per hour. This graphic helps translate what you might see to what is probably going on.
As part of #SchoolLibraryMonth, it’s important that libraries & their librarian(s) advocate for themselves on behalf of their patrons. We may not always be running around, but we are always working… Shared from • @lagniappelibrarian
