Accountability and transparency are supposed to be pillars of monetary policy. If those disappear, confidence in the system disappears with them. Markets run on trust. When trust cracks, capital moves. I believe that moment has arrived.
Now who’s playing politics? Powell’s attorney is counting Senate votes? Powell threatens not to step down when his term ends. Meanwhile, he refuses to even fulfill the requirement to give the semiannual monetary report to Congress. So much for accountability and transparency.
