Who would've guessed the Counter-Strike community was so stacked with economists, just waiting for a cataclysmic event like this to come out and flood the Reddit comments?

Deadlock is such a sick game. Also really enjoying Valve's more communicative approach to the development of that game. Who is playing it?

As far as I can tell they are good people with good intentions, but I can understand the team is small as I can't imagine many people would put up with the pressure from this community and the way it jumps at any opportunity to critique the company / people.

Don't get me wrong. I also wish/think more COULD be done with CS. The same can be said about Leetify and many other things. I just think Valve gets a lot of uninformed and unnecessary critique, at the end of the day they are just people. Treat them with some respect.

How many other companies have launched some of the most popular games, one of the most influential platforms of all time (Steam) AND made innovative hardware products (Steam Deck, Valve Index), all while being probably the most profitable company per employee in the US?

You can argue they should change the way they organize to solve these problems, but few companies ever change their entire company culture. Nor do I think such an argument would be very motivated, it's hard to argue with Valve's success.

2) From what I gathered from the people I talked to at Valve, it's not that they don't WANT to hire more people. They just literally CAN'T find more than ~400 ppl that are able to work in the way they organize in the Seattle area. Makes sense to me, it's really unique.

1) People at Valve can work on whatever they want. Most people likely choose to work on exciting new and innovative projects in such a scenario, rather than maintain something existing (CS). They'd have to break one of their core cultural tenets to solve this problem.

Missing quite a bit of nuance in this thread: https://t.co/ACarAhuLPY A lot of people mistakenly use this to make the assumption Valve doesn't want to invest more in CS - I don't think that's true, it's just hard for them to do so given how they organize.

Really big fan of what @csconfederation is doing and wish someone would do something similar in Europe. I feel like the whole concept of "beer leagues" is a big opportunity that's very under-explored in esports.
