Every startup pitch starts with "X industry is broken". Are there any industries that people generally agree are "fixed" or "working great"? Genuinely curious

The more I meet with founders and VCs, the more I think we've lost the plot on the idea of "bootstrapping" a business.

100% agree with this thread, especially for those with non-technical backgrounds who are interested in working with startups.

To recap, Trump couldn’t decide whether to endorse Eric Greitens or Eric Schmitt in the Missouri Senate race, so he just endorses “ERIC” the night before the election. Now both are graciously thanking him for his sincere support.

One of my favorite things that happens on this app, especially in crypto, is when someone adds their bag to a sweeping statement in a super sneaky way. "Even in this downturn, a16z's fund shows that crypto, blockchain, and IOTA are here to stay". Got it...wait what?

Watching the F1 series for the first time. Really compelling and fun! What I don't understand: why do all the same-team drivers hate each other? Feels like they should be best friends but it seems like the drivers on every team are enemies.

March Madness is great because it's a national communal experience where we all have fun watching kids have fun playing sports. There's no other event that can touch it when it comes to pure collective joy.

Something I would like to see more in startup pitches/decks: an admission that your competitors may have certain features that you don't have but you made a conscious decision to focus on a particular feature set that you believe will differentiate you in the long run

It would be cool if your email's AI could suggest links when you type a proper noun that you've linked previously. I add a link to my firm's website in so many emails, seems like it would be easy for the algorithm to recommend adding a link to it?

In my experience these practices are also mostly targeted at founders outside of traditional startup ecosystems because, which makes the practice even more predatory and hurtful to founders who likely have less VC knowledge & connections already.

+1, This drives me bananas. If you want to start a startup consulting business, fine, but to make money off people by putting out a carrot of potential investment is repulsive.

so the IEA urgently requests more demand response to deal with more renewable (& intermittent) grids – 500GW globally by 2030 up from 30GW today what's the most suitable and fastest growing industrial load for demand response? (h/t @ShaunEnergy) https://t.co/pJuhZZY7N1

Like other forms of traditional flexibility, demand-side flexibility is largely centralised and restricted to large industrial or commercial consumers

Putting an ML model into production is like giving birth to a child, 80% of the work starts there in monitoring, maintaining, and improving it. This is why every data scientist needs a Model Performance Management tool in their workflow. https://t.co/DPF215wVnD
