Donate to charity by all means. You should do that anyway. But don't say it's in lieu of sending Christmas cards!

We train our UK community to research and contribute to Wikipedia's articles on our own national history, and beyond. This #GivingTuesday help us unearth more stories on marginalised peoples and topics, so all our voices are represented online. https://t.co/zxJzODBjdo

Love this simple idea: For Irish speakers (or of course, speakers of another minority or minoritised language), wearing a badge saying "Please speak to me in Irish"* really increased people's ability and confidence to converse in that language. *Badge in Irish, of course.

Really lovely to hear students from an Irish school giving a bilingual presentation about their work editing Wikipedia. Don't want to share a photo in the interests of their privacy. #CelticKnot2024 @wikimediauk @WikimediaIE

I know I'm tired but it's just taken me half an hour (when I should be doing something else) paying a three euro toll charge in Ireland @eflow_freeflow Seriously, it shouldn't be that hard.

Stephen Lawrence would have been 50 today. What a gut punch. I was 16 when Stephen was killed, so his murder was a formative event. It was also formative for us as a society, even if we haven't progressed as far or as quickly as we might have hoped.

On the day Stephen Lawrence would have turned 50, how there may be an opportunity to secure justice.

Running through every discussion today @royalsociety - thinking about the future of the internet - is a real concern about the increasing energy and climate cost of the accelerating demand for bandwidth. AI is NOT carbon neutral (despite the claims of certain major actors).

Such an interesting and funny speech right now from Vint Cerf about building the internet in the 1970s, as part of the @royalsociety events to celebrate the 50th anniversary. He couldn't have known how deeply software would have penetrated our economic and social environment.
