This really isn't the first dodgy @BBC edit but it's certainly the one that counts because delegitimising striking miners in 1984 or undermining Corbyn in 2019 apparently don't matter. Some thoughts for @LRB blog https://t.co/8XFr60ZLwa

Two immediate demands over #BBC. Sack right wing Tory Robbie Gibb from the board. And refuse to pay #DonaldTrump a penny out of our licence fee money. What’s he going to do -bomb us? @NUJofficial @pplsassembly @lazebnic @STWuk

In Robbie Gibbs’ own words, “I’m a long-standing Conservative. I’m not a Chris Patten apologist-type Conservative. I’m a proper Thatcherite Conservative.” Yes this is the BBC Board member who presides over impartiality decisions. Sack him now

Thoughtful take on the BBC crisis that unusually for a mainstream report refers to the fact that “the broadcaster has also been repeatedly accused of caving to pro-Israel critics” and highlights the work of @cfmmuk

The resignation of two of the BBC's top executives illustrates the ruthless ideological battle over how political events are mediated for the public. While the BBC is at the heart of the firestorm,...

And make sure said Tory crony is able to get his friend Michael into a powerful editorial position to wreak further chaos
(1)Its a Tory plan working under a Labour Govt. Put Tory crony Robbie Gibb on the board who acts as an agent of chaos, with leaked memos and blocked board meetings to try either force the BBC further right or just crash the car.....

Just a quick reminder that two BBC executives (38% of whom were privately educated & 26% of whom went to Oxbridge) have been ousted in part by newspaper columnists (50% of whom were privately educated). This is called democracy

“It’s all about you”? Halfway through @bbc5live phone-in on BBC crisis and precisely one listener has been on air with programme dominated by insiders & execs. A little microcosm of the problem the corporation has with expressing ordinary lives

Wrote this well before today’s top-level resignations at the BBC but so predictable it would have been the dodgy & totally unnecessary editing of Trump and not the BBC’s indefensible coverage of Gaza that was the cause

Am still waiting for Goldsmiths to explain why they used a private consultancy firm to help draft its antisemitism action plan and not the Jewish staff or students the plan is supposed to protect

There was room for Wes Streeting, Chris Philip and Kamala Harris but not for Plaid Cymru who actually were the story last week….
In this week's Media Watch newsletter, Plaid Cymru MP @LSRPlaid and experts @ta_mills and Des Freedman take the BBC to task after not featuring a @Plaid_Cymru representative on the Laura Kuenssberg show. The party recorded a historic by-election win last week in Caerphilly.

The % of newspaper columnists who went to private school has risen from 43% in 2014 to 44% in 2019 and now to 50% in 2025. Given that only 6% of kids are privately educated, this may explain why commentators are so out of touch. Thanks to @suttontrust
