So Google’s penalty for being an illegal monopoly is not to break it up but to force it to suffer the indignity of having to share some of its data (and expand its reach) and to see its stock price go up by 6%. Capitalism rocks
apnews.com
A federal judge on Tuesday ordered a major makeover of Google’s search engine in a crackdown aimed at curbing the corrosive power of an illegal monopoly, but rebuffed the U.S. government’s request to...

After ignoring evidence of war crimes and genocide for some 18 months, mainstream media appear to have found some space for them in the last few months. Obviously a coincidence that it's happened at precisely the same time government has shifted its tone
declassifieduk.org
Mainstream media waited for the government to become critical of Israel before running more negative coverage, data suggests.

First @declassifiedUK then @FT but not a peep from any other defence correspondent about the scandalous possibility that the government might award a £2bn military contract to Elbit Systems who make the drones used to facilitate genocide in #Gaza

Brilliant article by @ArchitMeta exposing Reuters’ policing of #Gaza coverage to amplify Israeli perspectives and silence any talk of genocide

I’m off to Bristol to do a @CounterfireBriz meeting on #Gaza and media on the world’s longest train

The fact that a UK sponsored surveillance flight flew above a refugee camp the night before Israeli forces bombed it is presumably pure coincidence. Great report by @iainoverton which raises big questions for the MoD and the journalists that toe the line
declassifieduk.org
A US military contractor hired by Britain to conduct surveillance over Gaza operated above Nuseirat refugee camp the night before an Israeli bombing killed over 30 Palestinians in December 2024.

Every British journalist should be outraged by the assassination by Israel of a leading Al Jazeera reporter in Gaza City just now. But then they also”should” have avoided fixating on the trope of “Israel’s right to self-defence” whatever the cost
aljazeera.com
Al Jazeera staff killed in targeted Israeli attack on a tent housing journalists near al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza City.

Did I miss Starmer’s announcement that he’s suspending arms sales and stopping the surveillance flights which most media still claim are there just to “locate hostages” or will the intelligence still flow?
politico.eu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel plans to move forward with a total occupation of the Gaza Strip.

Amazing how after spending 20 months looking the other way, Times, Guardian, Mail, AFP, Express & Telegraph have all reported in the last few days on UK #SpyFlights over Gaza albeit sticking closely to the MoD script. It’s an admission of guilt
declassifieduk.org
Britain’s obedient defence correspondents are refusing to report a story of clear public interest in the middle of a genocide.

So @thetimes has now run a story on RAF spy flights over #Gaza. Hints that intelligence is shared with the IDF far beyond the official story that it’s just about hostages. Yet defence journalists mocked my @declassifiedUK article condemning the media silence about the flights.

This is on iPlayer, just ran on BBC News and is the clearest sign of a shift in #Gaza coverage likely tied to a change in government tone. And utterly enraging that it’s taken so long for the BBC to do investigative journalism that holds Israel to account
bbc.co.uk
The BBC World Service has compiled material on over 160 cases where children have been shot in Gaza - and found that in 95 cases, the child was shot in the head or chest.

It has been mysteriously decided (ie no consultation) that “stakeholders” in the implementation of Goldsmiths’ antisemitism plan include the Board of Deputies - yes those lovely people who recently suspended members for criticising Israeli actions in #Gaza
gold.ac.uk
Antisemitism is not tolerated at Goldsmiths and we are acting against such behaviour as a form of racism.

So is Starmer saying that the UK won’t recognise a Palestinian state if Israel commits to a ceasefire and peace process? The man’s principles are boundless. But let’s be clear - this is a climbdown forced on him by pressure from the Palestine movement
bbc.co.uk
The death toll since the start of Israel's military campaign in Gaza has risen to 60,138, the ministry says.

and yet not a single mention of genocide in Gaza in the X feeds this year of our main public service broadcasters BBC and ITV (unlike C4N and Sky)

Reports detailing intentional targeting of Palestinians as a group, and systemic destruction of Palestinian society, add to pressure for action

Gaza is finally headline news not because mainstream media have suddenly grown a conscience but because even Israel's allies realise it's out of control
declassifieduk.org
Britain’s national press finally realise that Israel might be a problem but still fail to recognise their own role in legitimising atrocities in Gaza.
