Marcia is the most generous critic I've ever enjoyed. Heartbroken to hear about her health

Dear friend Marcia Ball announced her retirement today because of her diagnosis of ALS. She's the queen of Texas/Louisana music, one of the greats. Hard to take it in.

In order to fully understand the conflict in the Middle East, I had to see it through the eyes of a novelist.

Twice!
I am listening to @lawrence_wright's new novel,The Human Scale for the second time. I've learned more about the Israel/Palestine conflict from this book than all other sources I've ever consulted, combined. I urge everyone to read or listen.

Read The Human Scale by @lawrence_wright & it's a total masterpiece. Brutal, provocative, deep & historical. Gripping, in a word. Not your typical "beach read," but that's where I devoured it. Highly recommend for students of the Middle East and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Bill Moyers was a guiding light for me. He gave me my first blurb, on a book about growing up in Dallas during the Kennedy assassination. I was a nobody and he was a somebody with a very generous heart. https://t.co/j3VARD4YXu

This video of the cuffing of Sen. Alex Padilla is creepy. Even after the cuffing, when the unidentified federal agent keeps telling the cameraman over and over "there's no recording allowed." Ie: we have cancelled the first amendment.

Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., could be heard saying, “I have a question for the secretary,” as he was forcibly removed from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference in Los Angeles....
