In this special issue by @NeobiotaJournal we are welcoming contributions of #non-native #species lists from the #Global #South. Countries from the Global South are severely under-represented in biodiversity assessments which has to change. #invasivespecies #neobiota
📢 New topical collection: "Developing lists of alien taxa in the Global South: workflows, protocols, processes, and experiences." Aiming to address significant gaps in the Global South. ⏳ Submit outlines and abstracts by 17 January 2025. 🔗 Info: https://t.co/odV3kYbc6T

Monocultures seem like green deserts but there’s hope: research led by @paternogb shows that ‘islands of diversity’ can be one solution to bring biodiversity back to these landscapes 💚
New in @sciencemagazine 🌍 We explored biodiversity recovery in oil palm landscapes using strategically planted tree islands: https://t.co/HzsjczLCio

This, among many reasons, is why this is a very sad turn of events for the entire planet
Reminder: Victory for Trump is likely to all but end global hopes of staying below 1.5C, our analysis found in March https://t.co/D8YonQ4w65

Super interesting talk by social scientist A/Prof @SoniaGrahamBuch on the importance (and long term succession and motivation challenges) of community-led weed management groups, and an example of a community which managed to control bitou bush! 🌊 🌿 #AWC2024 #23rdAWC

Don’t buy Mr Fothergills Seeds (or “bee hotels”). I’ve reached out to them numerous times and they ignore my science and advice . They also have kept deleting all comments I make #beewashing #gardening #seeds #flowers

PhD student Maggie Gil Fernández 🇲🇽 studies native Antechinus and rats, using traps 🪤 she checks their ectoparasites and studies the mycorrhizae in the soil that these animals might help spread, comparing National park and urban sites @JacoLeRoux01 @alexcarthey

I went to the field again today and learnt that Antechinus are not rodents 🙃🙈they are marsupials and have common sharp teeth and not the two classic large incisors of rodents like the native rats we also see at Maggie’s fieldwork at Ku-ring-gai NP and urban sites 🐀 @mqnatsci
