Eldest sis (jobless) about to start her postgrad in a few weeks. Youngest just graduated & is giving interviews. Both woke up, sipping tea over Maanu x Annural Khalid on a Monday morning. Zero care given. Life’s beautiful this way too, sometimes ❤️

For me this book is not about offering solutions. It is about refusing to pretend that easy solutions exist. It is about capturing the lived reality of people who fight, endure and hope even when the odds are stacked against them.

I finished it on 19/8/25, the day Khi drowned again in urban floods. It was a stark reminder of how little has changed, of how fragile the city is because of zero urban planning and of how these cycles of destruction keep repeating.

The ending is intentionally left open. There is no neat closure, only survival in uncertainty. That is what makes it so powerful. In places where floods, corruption and poor planning return year after year, stories do not end. They pause and leave you with questions.

Book review: A haunting novel set in Sindh’s Indus Delta, where poisoned water and political greed destroy the lives of fishermen and their families. The writing makes you feel the poisoned water, the weight of floods and the resilience of people who refuse to give up.

What is abundantly clear is that there has been little to no progress of any kind in disaster preparedness since 2010, other than the massive expansion of bloated, expensive authorities that are unable to prevent losses anytime there’s above average rainfall. For all the climate

Legit grounded my restlessness (read while eating fruit) on the thought that there's no point in forcing things. Just pray and make duas. If it's meant for you, Allah will make ways for you. InshaAllah!

Took me a while but I finally realised there's no point in forcing things. Just make dư'ā. If it's meant for you, Alläh will make it clear to you.

Allah is so Raheem. He shows us glimpses so that we may repent and accept the truth. All these increasing natural calamities, and the so-called progressive world being exposed through Palestine and other oppressions, are proof that you can never rely on this world.

If you believe in what I’ve been working towards, if you’ve ever rooted for representation, equity or education, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support & sharing this forward. Sometimes, it really does take a village to help someone get to where they’re meant to be. ✨
