UPDATE: After 14 days, Snow Storm 2019 outage restoration is complete! Thank you to our members for their patience, to our employees for their endurance, and to these utilities and contractors for joining forces with us.
Crews worked extremely hard in our communities today. And did so in the worst air quality in the world! All but a very small handful of members from our active service territory are up and energized; enjoying hot showers, running water, and their HVAC systems. 1/3
***EMERGENCY OUTAGE ALERT***
All substations will be shut off at 6:00 PM tonight due to an extreme weather event.
Re-energizing lines will be revisited in the morning. Members should plan to be off again tomorrow as temperatures and windy conditions escalate. 1/3
"Elvis" has left the Building - The big Kahuna has retired!!
After Serving Lane Electric Customers for over 15 Years we said "So-Long" and "Happy Retirement" to Dave D'Avanzo - Manager, Member Services today. He will be missed by everyone! Enjoy your next chapter Dave!
Promising reports from the McKenzie area. The bright spot is with the exception of one tree that fell into the fencing & bit of the busing, our substation was essentially spared! This saves the Cooperative an incredible amount of time in getting power restored to the area. 1/4
More Good News From Your Co-op Crews!
Our 2-MW generator made it safely up the precarious HWY 126. The HWY is extremely dangerous, with debris and boulders continuing to break loose from the hillside. Speed is limited to 20 mph, and conditions are changing constantly. 1/5
In a remarkable demonstration of collaboration and teamwork, the co-op was ready today to energize ALL lines east of Blue River- an entire day earlier than expected! We are incredibly proud of our staff and crew for the ‘can-do’ attitude and grit that made this all possible. 1/5
Power is being restored to much of our territory as we speak! We have already surveyed and energized 30% of our lines and BPA, our power provider, has just energized their transmission lines to our Oakrdige area substation so we can now start picking up members in that area. 1/4
Our linemen crews are working hard to bring power back to all our members, often in treacherous or difficult conditions. Thank you for your patience as we work towards recovery. For the latest updates + disaster resources, visit our Outage Map:

It is just after 9:00pm and crews have been called in for the night. While we feel a sense of accomplishment for the hard work rebuilding our system we also feel a sense of sorrow for the hard work ahead for those rebuilding their lives and communities - Our❤️goes out to you!
It's Lineman Appreciation Day!!!
A special thank you to our crews today for working hard to keep the power on through heat, rain, snow and ice - we appreciate everything you do!
When the lights go out...our crews really shine!
Have you thanked a lineman today?

Today is a new day!
Crews return @ 6AM to begin assessing conditions for which lines we can be safely energized. High risk areas (remote and heavily wooded) will most likely remain de-energized throughout the red flag warnings.
We have called in mutual aide from Coos-Curry Electric to help us patrol lines prior to energizing them. Safety is our number one concern and unfortunately that means some folks may not get power today as the winds are picking up again. (1/2)
UPDATE 1/18/24 1:45 PM: Work continues to restore power across our service territory, and our teams are working as quickly as they can while staying safe. These images were taken near the Cloverdale substation, which had all transmission lines substantially damaged.
1/25/24 11:00 AM: Since last night, we've restored power to150+ more members. ~4% of our members remain without power. We anticipate power to most members’ homes will be online by or before Monday 1/29/24. Additional updates:

Our Lane Electric crews are now working alongside 8 mutual aid crews from the Pacific Northwest. Their assistance is immensely appreciated as we work together in our power restoration efforts. For the latest information, visit
After a lot of progress, we experienced setbacks last night with several outages taking place, but did so safely because of our systems sensitivity settings. We will continue our march to full restoration but may not reach the Doreena Lake & Culp Creek areas today. 1/2
1/13/24 – 10:45AM: OUTAGE ALERT - We are experiencing outages impacting about 600 members in Blue River, Creswell, Eugene, McKenzie Bridge, Oakridge and Vida. The BPA transmission that provides power to our Blue River Substation is out.

We have 500+ homes without power due to the windstorm. Crews have been working through the night to make repairs. Outages and damage are scattered and will take some time to find and repair.
The
@nws
has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 1pm this afternoon to 8pm PDT this evening. To help keep members safe we have increased the sensitivity of our substations, which will increase the likeliness of an outage.
Second a word of thanks: We appreciate the immense amount of patience, understanding & support our communities have shown us & for each other during this incredibly trying time. Neighbors helping neighbors is how we approach our jobs & we are happy to see you doing the same. 3/3
Lane Electric lineman along with 8 mutual aid crews continue to work tirelessly to restore power. Crews restored power to 68 more homes. Today we have a total of 15 crews working. Please visit our outage map for the latest updates:
It was an awesome sight to see! Our McKenzie River, level 2, members finally saw the lights come on, and stay on today!
While the work up there is just beginning, it was a great first step in providing some relief to those we are cleared to reach. 1/3
Though we hope to energize the remainder of our system tomorrow, website traffic shows that many of you have found this generator safety info to be of interest. So hopefully others do-even if it's just a reminder for further down the road-much, much, further down the road. 🤞👌🤞
In order to safely re-energize crews must patrol and inspect all lines in impacted areas. Crews are working around the clock and continue to identify and fix broken poles and cross arms. This is a time-consuming process. We appreciate everyone’s patience.
Have you been getting in the holiday spirit? We certainly have. Our team took part in Veneta's 17th Annual Lights on Broadway Parade. Take a look at our gingerbread float designed by our dearly missed Dave D'Avanzo. Thanks to all who organized the reverse parade!
Thank you
@ORElectricCoops
and specifically
@CoosCurryElect
for the support crews and encouragement you have sent our way. Neighbors helping neighbors is the co-op way!
Oregon's electric co-ops - such as Lane Electric, Consumers Power and Blachly Lane - have done a remarkable job restoring power to their members in remote places - imagine being a co-op lineman in extreme heat with the worst air quality in the world - but they get the job done!

OAKRIDGE 1/24/24: There was an incident with a car hitting a pole yesterday evening. Currently ~100 members remain without power. This is unrelated to the winter storm event. At 9 a.m., crews will take a 3-hour outage to continue repairs. Latest updates:
This evening we will assess the red flag alert conditions (wind, temperature, relative humidity) and will make the call regarding another nightly shutdown. If we decide to de-energize for the safety of our communities, we plan to try and hold out until 8PM. 3/4
OUTAGE ALERT: We have an outage impacting Creswell and Pleasant Hill members due to a lost BPA feed. BPA crews are onsite assessing the situation and Lane Electric crews are on standby to reenergize. We will share an estimated restoral time as soon as we have more details.
Power restored to 1k members, mostly in Veneta, Fern Ridge, Crow areas. By EOD, 17 crews working in our 2,600 sq. miles of service territory. BPA substations in McKenzie & Oakridge are still w/o power. All members should continue to plan to be w/o power into the weekend or more.
The city of Oakridge was just ordered to be de-energized again because of excessive winds registered in the area.
Be safe and know that we are doing our best to balance keeping the lights on and keeping our communities protected from this already disastrous weather event. 2/2

It's important to note this didn’t happen by accident. Lane Electric takes safety seriously. The minm req clearance around a sub is only ~10 ft. In July we worked with our sub’s neighbor to clear a 60-ft perimeter! This generous act ended up saving the substation! 2/4
Since last night, we've restored power to 300+ members. ~5% of our members remain without power. We anticipate power to most members’ homes will be online by or before Monday 1/29/24. Image is of of new poles being set near Cloverdale. Addtional updates:
Today, we celebrate 83 years of powering rural communities! From the edge of the Cascade Mountains to the Row River valley and beyond - we are proud to serve you.
Unfortunately, we were unable to get information back from our crews up north to allow us to give you any sort of plans. The communications tower in the area was lost in the fire and our crews haven’t made it back to reception yet. It’s hard to get them to stop working. ;) 2/2
