One of 4 regular IP65 downlights fitted in a soffit all have failed. Currently integral units. Replace all with another integral version or a can with GU10. In the future the lamp is easier to change but perhaps more often? Thoughts?

So out of zone… and looks like fitting the kitchen put a rawlplug straight through the 6mm (before it was then cut off…)

So, you can join copper to aluminium to make it look good but a half decent insulation tester will out you fast.

Aluminium socket wiring, never seen so many testing failures in such a short time. Rewire needed. Whoever thought this was even a good idea

Water heated solar controls. Any advice? Working on a house which has solar water heating. This circulates when the solar temp is higher than the immersion tank, or should. The water temp is really high and the controller is dated with no manual. Ideally a replacement needed.

On holiday in Corfu. Only one thing is distracting me from this glorious view from the balcony. I just need a ladder and 15 minutes, done! 😎🤭

Interesting (long long) thread. It does make you wonder how things could change on Thursday.
Two futures: Labour in Government. Tories in Opposition. 5 years of endless culture wars & immigrant-bashing. Labour in Government, LibDems in Opposition. Tories powerless & voiceless on back benches. If the Tories come third, it changes everything. Here's why: 1/12

Maybe the rats are clever and keeping away from conductive material wedged around the tails. Very odd, the choice of material, not the rats.

Main switch RCD. Nuisance tripping caused by combined leakage. Could the RCD get close to tripping but a DC element saturates the coil and stops it. When DC leakage devices are turned off, saturation stops and RCD trips. So trips when turned something off not on. Sound plausible?
