I think the worst writing advice is when people say to take a month away from a draft so you can edit/revise with fresh eyes. Awful advice.

Did you already mention that in an earlier chapter? Does that character have brown eyes or blue? You don’t remember, because it was a month ago! Bad advice that makes revision way harder.

For one, after taking a month off it’s easy to get lazy, lose inspiration, and take more time off. And second, you risk forgetting about key lines/ideas/aspects of the text.

My editor's take on MEDUSA: "But let me tell you. this book is amazing! Everything is outstanding! Technically you don't have to implement my suggestions as it's in such great shape. Anything I put in is only to enhance or to play up the symbolism, or to give the readers some.

So I'm best friends with this old scientist who got killed by terrorists. I tried fleeing from them, but it accidentally sent me back in time. I met my mother and she fell in love with me instead of my dad. Super awkward. But I convinced them to get together so my siblings didn't.
