This seems to have flown under the radar, but 50 million H100s at even 500 W of peak power per GPU is: . - 25 gigawatts of power.- 220 TWh of energy. The total US energy generation in 2025 will be ~4400 TWh. So these GPUs will represent ~5% of the entire US's energy production.
The @xAI goal is 50 million in units of H100 equivalent-AI compute (but much better power-efficiency) online within 5 years.
