Looking through my footage of the backside of the Grinnell, KS storm (confirmed EF-3) and wondering if this was actually a subvortex or satellite of the main tornado. Video was taken at 6:59PM from I-40, so I was likely pointing towards where it crossed I-70. @NWSGoodland #kswx

I was hoping for a relaxed day for my first solo Plains chase but spent most of the day too far away or on the wrong side. This rope out was my 30 second consolation prize. I did successfully navigate between multiple tornadic supercells so I guess that’s something! #kswx
