Sometimes we hear various "rules" for a good marriage. Many of them are actually bad advice. Here are some of the rules for marriage we don't think you should follow:

This week we are finishing the book of Hebrews, enjoying Psalm 70, and our set of Proverbs for the week is Proverbs 14:16-35.

Do you want to increase the level of intimacy with your spouse? Practice this: When you listen, your job is to understand. Don't judge, don't fix. After you understand and they can see that you understand. Then maybe you can judge and fix... but not until you really understand.

Find a few moments to sit with your spouse. Talk about your day or your future. The topic doesn't really matter as long as you are together.

Physical nakedness with our spouse is good. Emotional nakedness with our spouse is equally as important. A good marriage requires no secrets. Complete openness. (see Genesis 2:25)

Stopping trying to figure out who's at fault, instead put that energy into solving the problem.

We each yearn for a safe place. This is one of the reasons we get married. Create that place for your partner where they can be: 😌 Relaxed 👌Accepted 🤗 Wanted 🏡 Cared for 🛡 Protected

Stop making excuses and fix what's wrong in your marriage. It can't be fixed if you don't even try.

True intimacy is created through love, respect, and submitting to each other's influence. Be willing to listen to each other's point of view and make decisions together.

When Nathan works from home we create time for eating lunch together. This gives us time to step away from the bustle of the day and reconnect before heading our separate ways again.

If you aren't good at speaking your spouse's love language. It's not good enought to say: 🤷‍♀️ "That's who I am."🤷‍♂️ It's time to get out of your comfort zone and grow!

Wonderful day today. Got the kids to school. Enjoyed time together at the grocery store buying candy from the bulk section. Spent the rest of the day snuggling, watching movies, and eating candy until the kids got home. It's nice taking a day off from the real world! 🥰🥰
