My next book comes out in summer next year. A supernatural serial killer thriller set in London! Stay tuned for more details soon. #YABookPrize.
And our last question for you both is - what are you working on now/next @adiba_j @km_sutherland? #YABookPrize.

Absolutely. Now that I'm here, I'm never leaving! #YABookPrize.
@km_sutherland That's so interesting! Do you think you'll write more fantasy and sci-fi in future? #YABookPrize.

It means so much! I arrived in the UK three years ago and instantly felt so welcomed by the book community here. It's such an honour. I've read THE YEARBOOK and ACE OF SPADES and AFTERLOVE - I want to read them all! #YABookPrize.
Another question for both of you @adiba_j @km_sutherland - what does it mean to be shortlisted for the prize and have you read any of the other books on the list? #YABookPrize.

I love the first draft - nothing is wrong yet. There are no mistakes in a first draft! It's just you discovering the story. As things get more granular, I enjoy the process less. Copyedits is the least enjoyable - there it feels like everything is wrong!.
#YABookPrize @km_sutherland @adiba_j What part of the writing process is your favourite? And contrastingly, what is the hardest? @yabookprize.

It felt like coming home! Before writing Chemical Hearts, I wrote 3 (unpublished) manuscripts that were all fantasy or sci-fi. House of Hollow felt like returning to my roots and what I really loved to write. #YABookPrize.
@km_sutherland This sounds great! House of Hollow was a change in direction compared to your previous YA novels - what prompted you to write a gothic fairy tale? Was it challenging to write in a different genre? #YABookPrize.

Who doesn't love a supermodel with extremely questionable morals and a literally monstrous past? #YABookPrize.
@km_sutherland Grey's a very intriguing character! #YABookPrize.

I relate the most to Iris because she's the most normal. Your protagonist kind of has to be the most accessible character in order for the reader to connect with the story. My favourite to write was Grey, a woman with terrible, unchecked power #YABookPrize.
@km_sutherland It definitely has a fairytale feel! Out of the three Hollow sisters, who was your favourite to write, and who do you relate to the most? #YABookPrize.

I know this is a question for Adiba, but I'm going to chime in as well because tropes are so fun! My next book has elements of enemies to lovers and there's only one bed - tropes I love to read and have always wanted to try! #YABookPrize.
#YABookPrize @adiba_j Hani and Ishu's Guide to Fake Dating focusses on the 'fake dating' trope. Is there another trope you'd like to try? If so, what would it be? @yabookprize.

The three sisters in House of Hollow came to me immediately, on that first day. I'm one of three girls and had always wanted to write about the bond between sisters - plus three sisters going missing has a very fairytale feel to it #YABookPrize.
@km_sutherland That's so beautiful and mysterious - no wonder it inspired you! At what point did you think up the characters of the Hollow sisters? #YABookPrize.

The ruined door that inspired House of Hollow. I arrived at Anuradhapura having no idea what my next project would be and left a few hours later with an idea feverishly swirling in my brain. #YABookPrize
@sourpatchtate Let me see if I can find a picture I took that day! #YABookPrize.

I had more input on this design than I did for my previous covers. My publishing house invited me to send a mood board of ideas, which included some artwork from Aykut Aydoğdu (@aykutmaykut on Instagram). His work really captured the book so well #YABookPrize.
@km_sutherland It's such a striking cover! 😍 Did you have any input in the design? And can you shout out the cover artist? #YABookPrize

I'm still obsessed with the cover. Her eyes really follow you around the room in the most deliciously creepy way #YABookPrize.
@yabookprize @adiba_j @km_sutherland Hello Adiba and Krystal! Congratulations on being shortlisted for the #YABookPrize! I've read Hani and Ishu and really enjoyed it. I've yet to read House of Hollow- the cover is so intriguing.

House of Hollow was first sparked on a trip to Sri Lanka's ancient capital, Anuradhapura. There were ruins where every part of the structure had fallen away except for the doorframe. I wondered - what would happen if those doors led somewhere unexpected?.
Hi @adiba_j and @km_sutherland, thanks for joining us tonight! Our first question for you both is - what inspired your shortlisted novels? #YABookPrize.
