When I left Heritage in 2021 I was shocked to learn from people like this I was somehow a liberal. After I had spent 35 years as a conservative and when I was a conservative when some of them were in diapers. It was an adolescent troll. Calling Robbie George a liberal is nonsense
I’m trying to imagine a “conservative” ideology that cheers the exit of Robbie George. I can’t. Because there isn’t one. These folks are ghouls. Period.

After months of saying that tariffs are paid by foreigners and will not raise prices, Trumps exempts beef, coffee, cocoa, bananas, and other tropical fruits from his tariffs. Why? Because tariffs are raising prices on these goods and because Americans are paying them.

The new right’s pretending to be “canceled” when someone criticizes them is straight out of the playbook of left wing identity politics. Remember when left wing activists said criticism was a “trigger threat to silence them? Just passive aggressive control whether left or right.

The Heritage Foundation has been adrift a long time. The most recent controversy is not an anomaly. Robbie George’s resignation from the board shows that finally some on the board are standing up. Nothing in Heritage’s leadership will ever change until the board changes.

I have a hard time disagreeing with this.
Trump lost his trade war in every possible sense. It hurt the economy; it made us look ludicrous and lawless; and it gave Beijing a chance to reach for world power. And there is nothing Trump can do about any of this except back down and blame others. I would say that he is a

For those who think it is “ridiculous” that Russia would attack a European country. Russian sabotage and drone incursions in Europe happen all the time. What is ridiculous is Orban denies it.
15 people have been evacuated from a village in Romania after a Russian drone attacked a gas ship by the Ukrainian shore. There is a risk of an explosion, so people were brought to safety. Russia is a threat to Europe.

The “Donroe Doctrine?”We don’t need aircraft carriers to counter drug cartels in our hemisphere. It’s all a head fake to distract from bigger issues like Russia, Ukraine and China and to create the appearance of a muscular foreign policy that actually is weak.

Yes, the vision of the post-liberals and national conservatives is to create something new. It’s a fantasy, a restorationist myth. It is not restoring or conserving principles of the American tradition. The explicit rejection of the American founding is Exhibit A.
Not long ago I was on a panel of conservative attorneys. One said, "the system is so rotten we could do no worse than burning it all down and starting again." This is leftism!

The new right lacks a conservative sensibility. It doesn’t conserve but chases change. Employing the rhetoric of the Jacobin, it overthrows establishments and smites elites. It’s not a revolution to restore anything but to create something new that has never existed in America.

One of the stranger phenomena of our times is how right wing populists gravitate to far left positions. Maybe it’s the “horseshoe” theory, but I think it has more to do with the shock and awe of gaining attention. Which is Carlson’s method. Always change and shock.
Marjorie Taylor Greene said that we were entering "World War III" and a "Nuclear War" after the US bombed Iran's nuclear facilities in Operation Midnight Hammer. She predicted "Flag-draped coffins." She never admitted she was wrong. No one did.

While progressives and post-liberals pretending to be conservatives roll their eyes at this man, I honor him.
NEW SERIES: Holding the Line: Remembering Bill Buckley In honor of the man who built the modern American conservative movement — and who captivated the nation with his charm, wit, intellectual mastery, and willingness to engage thoughtfully with those he vehemently disagreed

Young people acting like radicals is certainly not new. The groyper rebellion against “boomercons” reminds me of 1960s “sixty-eighters” who thought no one over 30 could be trusted. A similar generational rebellion of adolescents against parents masquerading as authenticity.
