The expectation that you should know every song when going out is ruining party culture. Dj’s can’t put ppl onto new records because a huge percentage of the room isn’t receptive to music they don’t know. THE BIGGEST THING I WANT TO CHANGE THIS YEAR.
The DJ at a spot I was at this weekend was playing some Kaytranada songs like “Go DJ” and Victoria Monet “Alright.” A lady I knew walked up n said “my friend wishes you were DJing, because she doesn’t know any of these songs!” I said nah, tell her she needs to learn them. Smh
