i know someone who works in an art field with very niche taste, and she does invest in kiiikiii. that’s kind of my point. even though some people say kiiikiii feels newjeans-adjacent, they still have their own clear branding & a strong identity that’s how visual identity works

in my real life, some of us enjoy illt’s music & acknowledge that their aesthetic is cute, but none of us really follow or invest in them. it’s not dislike. it’s more of a discomfort. maybe bcs we’re used to pay attention to art and design, it’s hard not to notice the overlap

yes, nj & illt have different images,& sometimes some comparisons are a reach, but branding isn’t judged by surface differences alone. the real issue is when specific elements keep overlapping & the overall impression repeatedly feels ‘nj-coded’, it slowly creates brand confusion

sometimes i wonder.. after all the explanations about branding & plagiarism that are already out there, why are the arguments still stuck at this point? inspired is fine but when branding overlaps to the point of blurring the og artist’s identity, that’s where the problem starts
